To me, the mark of a good salon isn’t just how they make you look, but how they make you feel.

I showed up at Allora Salon and Spa on a Friday afternoon at 4, and just as you’d expect, the salon was bustling. And this wasn’t just any Friday afternoon – it was the Friday before Thanksgiving: Holiday Beauty Go Time. The last chance to trim it, style it, wax it and polish it before seeing all those relatives you only face once a year.

 

I was feeling harried. I was feeling harassed. I was a wreck.

 

But I was the only one.

 

You’d never have guessed this was the busiest time of year from the faces of the staff, every one of whom looked relaxed and happy, smiling the smiles of people who love what they do.

 

And then there was me.  See?

 

I visited Allora to take advantage of their holiday Beauty Bar special – now through New Years, Allora is offering blowouts, manicures and makeup applications (mini sessions are available for the gal or guy on the go) at special holiday prices. That means you can come in, relax, have a glass of champagne and let the fabulous staff at Allora do all your dirty work for you while you melt away your holiday stress in a comfy chair in their gorgeous salon.

 

Being a Go For It Girl kind of girl, I opted for the works, starting with a shampoo and blow dry with the lovely Janelle. See the shiny? See the smooth? That’s me.

 

I know, right?

 

She did the same thing for my soul, too.

 

From there it was a luxurious full makeup application with Megan, who spent several minutes considering my features and what made me comfortable before diving in with all the confidence and enthusiasm of trained pro.

 

 

 

Um, if I ever get an entourage, Megan is totally going to be in it.

 

The makeup application was awesome, and I absolutely recommend it to anyone attending a special event this season, especially if you’re going to be celebrating with people you see every day. It was so much fun to turn up the volume on my normal routine and get glammed up, especially since Megan did such a wonderful job of ensuring that I still looked like myself.

 

Red lipstick is very, very fun. Finish your champagne first.

 

Then it was off to Caitlyn for a manicure. I went with a bold, blackberry colored polish which she executed flawlessly, all while making me feel as welcome and comfortable as if she’d been entertaining me in her home.  It was fantastic.  Sadly, a girl can’t take photos with wet polish on her nails, but I can show you the full finished product.

 

 

This spa just seems to do everything right-  state of the art equipment from reclining comfortable hair washing stations, to massaging pedicure chairs, products, crave worthy seasonal treatments, you can even book your appointments online which is rather convenient.  The beauty team is what takes a visit to the spa to the next level of bliss (or beauty) and their loyal clients prove this point.  Read some of these facebook reviews!
